The Ministry of Public Works issued a General Invitation to Tender for the Douala–Bangui (PACE-DB) Economic Corridor Development Programme. The document contains such components as works, control, studies and technical assistance contracts that will be gradually launched as part of this huge programme funded by partners led by the World Bank, to the tune of 362.9 million euros, approximately 425 million dollars for Yaoundé-Edéa section.
The major component of the project is the reconstruction of National Road No. 3 between Yaounde and Edea, spanning 164 km. Works involve among other things, pavement reconstruction, development of several 2×2 overtaking lanes, straightening of hazardous bends as well as constructing and digitising two weighing stations to improve security and traffic flow on this strategic road. In addition to road works, several firms will be recruited to ensure control and supervision of three sections of the Yaoundé–Edéa road, carry out technical and environmrntal studies on the Yaoundé–Ayos–Bonis–Bertoua–Garoua-Boulaï road, deploy the Advanced Driver Assistant System ( ADAS), reinforce national road maintenance system, develop access roads to agricultural and industrial zones as well as execute studies relating to logistics platform and multimodal infrastructure development.
