On 29 July 2026, the Minister of Public Works, Emmanuel Nganou Djoumessi, received a delegation from the Cameroon Land Transport Association (GTTC), led by its president, Ibrahima Yaya. The consultation aims to raise awareness among sub-regional transporters regarding economic road corridor preservation, which serve as vital drivers of trade between Cameroon and neighbouring countries.
During the discussions, the Minister of Public Works presented the progress rate of the Douala-N’Djamena, Douala-Bangui, Douala-Bafoussam-Bamenda, and Bekoko-Limbé-Idenau economic corridors, among other projects, where significant investments are under way to improve mobility and support sub-regional integration.
The Minister of Public Works called on the GTTC to step up awareness-raising among transporters regarding compliance with axle load limits and traffic regulations, in order to ensure the long-term preservation of road infrastructure. He further highlighted the pivotal role of Road Committees as frameworks for consultation, awareness-raising, and monitoring.
For its part, the GTTC presented measures taken and that are being followed by transporters in the Sub-region and announced the continuation of its consultations with Nigerian transport organisations, to promote compliance with Cameroon regulations and the protection of road infrastructure.
