Rehabilitation of Maroua-Moutourwa road: Project Owner instructs company to put in more efforts to meet deadline.

The rehabilitation works on this 36 km-long section in the Far-North Region are progressing under the supervision of the public project management designated by the Project Owner. Early in May 2026, two crushing plants were operational and several hydraulic structures were under construction

These works, entrusted to the SOTCOCOG SA/STAPORT SA consortium, are being carried out in the Diamaré and Mayo Kani divisions of the Far-North Region. The road is found on National Road No.1 and connects the towns of Laf in Mayo Kani to Maroua in Diamaré. On the main road, cleaning of the project zone is fully carried out from KP 00 to KP 27+600. The construction of hydraulic structures continues, with six structures completed, several others under construction, prefabricated box culvert elements, and nine diversions constructed to facilitate the execution of these works. The aggregate crushing and asphalt production plants are operational in the Tagalai Quarry. Regarding the management of the company’s personnel, three agreements have been signed, including one with the Maroua Regional Hospital. The Moutourwa-Maroua road project is financed to the tune of
21, 135, 523, 591 CFA francs respectively by the African Development Bank (79%), the European Union (19%) and the State of Cameroun (2%), and aims to improve the transport system in the country.
