On 10 August 2026, the construction site was bustling with activity, marking a major ramp-up since the project began. The presence of the Minister of Public Works, Emmanuel Nganou Djoumessi, indeed galvanised the teams committed to meeting the challenge of delivering the 56-km-long road along the Ngaoundere–Garoua route. While the commencement of works along the main route is linked to the control mission deployment, it should be noted that aggregate production has begun and execution studies are making remarkable progress.
Broadly speaking, the project involves reconstructing a 56-km stretch between the entrance to André Ouro village and the Salah Bridge, including the widening of specific sections. The contractor executing the works, CFHEC, is fully mobilised and gave the Minister of Public Works a warm welcome. With the completion rate of preliminary works estimated at 3.60% as at 10 August 2026, the project has taken shape on the ground. Activities underway include laboratory tests, comprehensive execution studies, aggregate production and maintenance of traffic.
The contractor’s teams are also deployed to develop the prefabrication area and prepare the site for the asphalt plant installation. The outlook remains positive, with the announced completion of the contracting process for the control mission and the deployment of staff in the coming days to allow for the commencement of works along the main route. To date, 131 staff members are on site, along with 60% of the machinery.
