Works to widen the Yaounde Northern Entrance between Olembé and the Obala Interchange are under way, with Arab Contractors teams handling pavement and drainage tasks. As at 27 July 2026, the project’s physical progress stands at 25.91%.
During the aforementioned period, the contractor continued installing median kerbs between KP 14+475 and 15+200 on the left side. Protection works also advanced with the construction of masonry facings on the right side of OH16 box culvert (KP 13+296), while development of triangular ditches is progressing between KP 14+275 and KP 14+675, also on the left side. Pavement works are progressing on several sections of the project. To date, 9.194 linear metres of natural lateritic gravel sub-base, 6.650 linear metres of crushed graded aggregates base course, and 2.700 linear metres of bituminous concrete wearing course have been completed.
However, the contractor’s deployment is facing several constraints: failure to clear the rights-of-way between KP 0+000 and PK 3+000, non-relocation of utility networks (CAMTEL, ENEO, and CAMWATER), as well as technical and contractual issues regarding new prices. The Project Owner has initiated measures to progressively solve these constraints and enable the acceleration of works on the relevant sections.
